Thank You.

At the end of the 45th Chess Olympiad, in Budapest, Hungary and after a brilliant performance by our Women and Open team.
We must take the time to thank all our supporters, well wishers without whom non of this was possible.
I would like to start by thanking IM Atanu Lahiri our team Captain and Coach without whom our players would not be able to have done as well as they did at the Olympiad. And he did all of this without taking any payment for his time and effort. Unfortunately he was unable to accompany the team to Budapest as his mother got sick and passed away during the Olympiad. May her departed soul rest in peace. We send you our deepest condolences Sir.
To the India Bhutan Foundation (IBF) who supported us with a tournament which we used to expose our players to tough competition from India and for funding the travel of our coach IM Atanu Lahiri to Thimphu to conduct a 3 days training class to get to know our players and to evaluate them. The financial support for India Bhutan Friendship tournament and the funding to bring IM Atanu was only approved because Aum Megha Arora supported us. We appreciate and value all the support you have provided us at BCF.

To DHI we are grateful for the Nu. 100,000 contribution. We are honoured to have your support for the first time, and we hope you will continue your support. This contribution made it possible for us to make sure our Women team made it to the Olympiad. We hope the largest corporate entity in Bhutan will continue to support this sport a small amount of support will make a big change in our sport.
My special gratitude to two special ladies who supported the BCF, despite having nothing to do with Chess, who stood up and counted when it mattered, helping the Federation in our hour of nee, are Aum Dechen Dukpa and Aum Chechay Nidup.
Our deepest gratitude to these two ladies. The players and the BCF are forever in your debt.
A lot of the contribution was the hard work of Dasho Tshering Dorji who worked behind the scenes to make it happen. We are very grateful to you Dasho.
All the above contributions helped us when we were in critical situation and almost did not make it to the 45th Chess Olympiad.
What our team's performance has shown is despite the desperate struggle almost till the last moment, to make sure we have the financial resources to send the team, our players performed far above our resources enabled us and acheieved amazing results.
Well done to all the players of Team Bhutan at the 45th Chess Olympiad.
I must make a special mention of thanks to Director Aum Pem Tshomo, Foreign Ministry and Mr Tenzin Tenzin from the Royal Bhutan Embassy, New Delhi, for relentlessly pushing with the Visa at the Hungarian Embassy and making sure our team got the Visa and arranging to send the passport to Thimphu. Many teams did not even make it to the Chess Olympiad because of the Visa problems.
Finally I must thank Ms. Sumi our program officer who worked day and night, and weekends to make sure all the paper work was completed and submitted to the FIDE officials and the Olympiad Organisers.
As the old saying goes 'it takes a village to raise a child'.
We hope to continue seeing such cooperation in the future.
